Invisible Man

Invisible Man recreates the prologue Ralph Ellison’s 1947 novel, which opens in a basement stealthily wired with electricity from the city. Echoing the novel, the video captures the artist, initially in darkness, as he is exposed gradually to light, one bulb at a time. The intense brightness becomes too much for the digital camera to process, and he is blown into a consequential white-out.
